Hanita Solar Films
Part of:  Sun Control Films

Hanita solar control window films are used to enhance the performance and safety of existing glass, such as minimizing glare and hot-spots, reducing solar heat gain and energy consumption, and eliminating damaging UV radiation.

System Performance

High performance transparent window films improve the thermal qualities of a window assembly and its ability to control solar gains thanks to a selective reflection of solar infrared radiation (up to 85%) combined with a high transmission of visible light. In contrast to window treatments based on a general reflective mechanism, these solar films do not darken the interior, but still reduce up to 87% of glare and provide up to 99% UV protection. The result is a decrease in internal temperature without increasing the requirement for artificial lighting. The films add little color to the natural view, offer solar energy rejection and relatively low visible light reflectance. Hanita solar control films are available in various levels of reflectivity, transparency and solar gain factors, and can be combined with a water activated (WA) or a regular pressure sensitive (PS) adhesive system, Five types of high performance films are offered: OptiTune, Cold Steel, Argent, Solar Bronze and Silver. For a more advanced lighting analysis and project specific results, we recommend using the Lightsolve program (under development).

Performance data for all systems in the same category. Comparison to systems in other categories, selected through the matrix filtering process.

System Description

Hanita films consist of a multi-layered sputter coating deposited on a polyester layer. The proprietary sputter coating process ensures a high density and uniformity essential to create the thin reflective metal and metal oxide coating on the polyester substrate. A water activated or pressure sensitive adhesive is applied to the film, which ensures a strong bond with the glass it is applied to. To protect the film, it is recommended to apply it to the interior side of the window assembly. The simplicity of the application process allows for the films to be used in new systems as well as for retrofitted ones. Once applied, the film requires little maintenance. Solar Zone products are supplied in 60" (1524mm) standard width, with a variety films also available in 36" (914 mm), 48" (1220 mm) and 72" (1830 mm). Energy savings can be obtained from a reduction of cooling loads.
