Okacolor is a digitally printed glass, displaying a colorful image or pattern visible from both sides of the glass, which therefore generates a customized filtering screen.

System Performance

Light passing through Okacolor glass is filtered into colors, brightening an area , which provides an interesting view  to the other side through the glass. Depending on the selected pattern or image, the system allows different degrees of visibility, privacy , light transmission and glare control. Okacolor can be used on insulating glass units, parapets, curtain wall facades, or in the many other circumstances where colored glass would create a pleasing effect in combination with a desired projection of colored and patterned light to the inside. Digital printing is the best option when a complicated pattern is required, and can be used to recreate realistic images in bright colors. All of these types can also be lacquered against humidity and climate changes. For a more advanced lighting analysis and project specific results, we recommend using the Lightsolve program (under development).

System Description

Okacolor uses a three-step process to color various types of glass. First a primer is placed, then the color is printed, and then a lacquered coating to covered it entirely. The coloring uses inorganic pigments to coat the glass rather than coloring the glass all the way through. Depending on the build-up of the coating, which in turn depends on the application in question, OKACOLOR can be used as monolithic single glazing, in laminated glazing or insulating glass, and the glass can be float glass, laminated safety or cast glass. Once the color is printed, a heat and sun control film gives UV protection and heat reduction. Digital printing can be 400-600 dpi printing, with a maximum pane size of 2.05m by 5m. Maintenance for the glass is the same as other tempered glasses.
